Not Me Monday!

Time for not me Monday again! Head on over to MckMama's blog at http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ to see who else has "not" been doing things!

This week I most certainly:

Did not allow our 1 year old to taste beer. And then blog about it.

Did not allow my children to run around with no pants on. Or clothes, in Levi's case...well maybe a sock.

Did not choose not to brush Sweeter's hair, and instead throw it in a messy pony for the day. My children are always perfectly presentable.

Did not allow Spud to eat sand at the Park, cause I got tired of saying "NO!" Or Sidewalk Chalk. Seriously. Who does that? Right?

Did not allow Sweeter to run down the block to the Ice Cream Truck in panties and a Very stained white tank top. See above regarding my perfectly presentable kids.

Did not lose Spud in our own house, only to figure out a few minutes later I had closed the poor boy in our Walk in pantry.

That's probably enough for one week, dontcha think??

Have a good Monday!

This weekend in Vogelville...

Whew! We are coming to the end of a busy weekend here in Vogelville! Saturday was a trip tp the Ponoka Stampede Parade. I took my camera...got there all excited to take pics, and forgot my memory card :( Oh well. We had a great time, however, Sweeter was not a fan of the looud sirens. "Parades make LOUD noises, mommy" Duly noted dear girl. Duly noted!

After we got home it was slide building time! Nana and Papa bought our kids a backyard playcentre for their birthdays this year, and we have been waiting to add the piece de resistance (aka the slide) for a month now. It finally came in, so we put it up Saturday afternoon

As you can see we all had fun :)

and last but not least, while daddy was building the slide, I took Spud for his first haircut. I didn't really want to do it...but I have had more than my fair share of comments recently that he was sporting a pretty mean mullet, so alas it was time. I went in the hair salon with a baby, and came out with a little man, but he sure is handsome!!

Cute all around, I say!

Today was just a relax kinda day, Cody let me sleep in til 8:00 (WHOO HOO) and then we did a little cleaning, and hanging with the kids. All in all a super weekend.

For the love of Chocolate

I made Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins for lunch today.

They were pretty darn yummy, I must admit. But I can't say I loved 'em as much as Spud

In case you were wondering

And I am sure you weren't...but I wanna share. I used my new Dyson last night. And I just want to say the stuff that came out of my carpet was disgusting. That's all.

Just can't get enough....

Of my Small Boy, and his long lashes

Can you???

I scream, you scream, we all scream for.....

Last night the Ice Cream Truck showed up in our neighbourhood. I, for one, am SUPER excited when I hear it. I think it must be because I grew up in the country. There were no Ice Cream Trucks. In fact I was unaware that they even truly existed until this one came to see us.

I was not, however, so excited that I would let Sweeter run down the street to meet the Ice Cream Truck like this:

I would never do that!

Gimme a D-Y-S-O-N!!!!

I had a whole post in mind about our trip to the "Sand Park"....however most important on my mind right now is the fact that I bought me one of these babies:

A DYSON!

Whoot Whoot.

Crazy expensive, but good gracious, I have A LOT of carpet in my house, and even though we have only been in our house for about year and a half, the carpet needs some lovin'. Plus I just wanted one. Maybe Vacuuming will be fun now? Here's Hoping!

Parents of the Year?

This was the scene at the our house last night:

Yes, that is a beer.
Yes, our one year old is tasting it.
And
Yes, the final picture is his reaction.

Perhaps we won't win any Parent of the Year Awards.

Hands

Last night my kids were driving me bonkers. Actually it wasn't just me they were driving up the wall, but Cody too. Both were cranky. Sweeter was purposefully disobedient (I hate purposefully disobedient, ya know when they do something wrong and turn to you with a glint in their eye that says "HA!"), and Spud was just whiny. Constant whiny. It was one of those evenings where Cody and I look at each other and think..."We signed up for THIS??? TWICE??" Anyway, there I sat at the table trying to get my purposefully disobedient daughter to just eat her freakin' hot dog, so I could throw her into a tub and then bed ASAP...when I looked down and saw her sweet little girl hand....

See it?

And I melted. That's how I know that I made the bestest decision ever to have kids. I can be in the worst mood ever, and yet all it takes is seeing a pudgy, little, mustard covered hand, and I am done.

So I kissed that pudgy little hand, mustard and all, and my little girl looked up and me and said "I love you Mommy." Life doesn't get any better.

(Well, 'cept maybe when they were in bed by 7:30...and I was laying on the couch eating some well deserved chocolate ;)

Not Me Monday!

I have been folowing MckMama's blog, http://www.mycharmingkids.net/ for awhile. Her son Stellan was born with a heart condition, and in fact was supposed to die in utero, but he's here! Cool huh? Anyway she came up with Not Me Monday, where us Mama's can confess our so called "wrong doings" from the week past with zero guilt, so here I go!

I most certainly did not allow my kids to eat chips as a morning snack here today. Chips at 10 AM? NEVER!

I did not allow Sweeter to eat more than her fair share of Junk food yesterday @ the big party. Cuz my kids dont eat junk, right?

I would never allow my kids to go to bed with milk, to reduce the fuss. Thats a HUGE no no!

I do not release Spud from his highchair and allow him to "graze" on the food he has thrown on the floor while I clean. Thats disgusting!

Well thats all for now. I am sure there are more transgressions but I 'll leave those for another day!

Are you ready to Par-Tay?

We were. Yesterday that is. Today? Not so much I am pooped! yesterday was the Spud Man's first birthday celebration.

The weekend was busy, cause, ya know, I have some strange need to have my house spotless when we have these sort of things. Just so that 5 seconds after guests arrive, it can look like a bomb has went off in my kitchen, but, what-evs. We cleaned house and did yard work pretty much all day Saturday.

Sunday morning was cake baking time! We made Monkey cakes, and Sweeter (AKA Kayla) was given free reign over the 9 x 13 I also made.

Check out our handy work!

The guests arrived around 4:30, and we did presents soon after, I figured the new stuff would entertain all the kiddos while we cooked!

Here is spud after his first look at the presents. I think that look says "What the...."

And surrounded by unopened presents

He was one spoiled little man!

After presents we had a BBQ, and of course ate our cake!

and one more pic just cause its cute!

Happy Birthday my sweetest boy!

WOW! I did it!!!

Who knew? I have wanted to start a blog for eons, just to have somewhere to journal memories of my kids and family! And well, here it is! I can't guarantee it will be interesting, for anyone reading, but hey if you are game to read, have at 'er!

In case by some miracle, there are others besides family reading, I will introduce myself...I am Shannon (yeah, that's right I am living on the edge, no blog names for me!) I am married to a wonderful man, named Cody...coming up 4 years here in August. We have 2 kids, a daughter, Kayla almost 3, and Levi our son, just turned one. I have just started a Dayhome in the last month, and on average days have 5 kids here under 4! CA-RAZY! However, it was a way for me to stay home with my munchkins, and I loooove the fact that I never have to put Spud (AKA Levi) in Daycare.

I love taking pictures so I hope you will see alot here.....

So that's me in a nutshell... And since you are lucky, and I know there are scads of people waiting for my next post (ha ha) I will probably write another sometime today (Ya know in between playing referee, changing poopy bums, and the like....) about Spud's 1st birthday party yesterday. Cuz I am nice like that!
